HT1000 native DOS RSS - Windows XP one-click package
=====================================================

Requirements
------------
1. 32-bit Windows XP. Windows XP x64 cannot run 16-bit DOS programs natively.
2. A real motherboard/PCI serial port enabled and assigned as COM1.
3. The correct Motorola RIB/programming cable and a stable radio power supply.
4. Local administrator rights for the first installation.

Install and run
---------------
Double-click INSTALL_XP.CMD. It copies the complete program to:

    C:\MRSS\HT1000

It then creates "HT1000 DOS RSS" on the desktop and starts the program.
After installation, use that desktop shortcut or START_HT1000.CMD.

Serial-port setting
-------------------
CONFIG.MOT contains:

    0 $COM <-

This selects the first DOS serial port, COM1. The launcher also checks that
Windows can see COM1 before starting the native DOS program.

Important radio precautions
---------------------------
- Read the radio first and save a backup before changing anything.
- Do not disconnect power, the RIB, or the serial cable during a write.
- Do not use a virtual COM port unless it is deliberately assigned to COM1.
- Old RSS can be timing-sensitive. Close other software that uses COM1.
- Use only with a supported HT1000 and lawful frequency/settings.

Original program integrity
--------------------------
HT1000.EXE is left unchanged.
